Calgary, Alberta — No contact deliveries continue to be integral to GrainsConnect Canada’s model
With the recent outbreak of Covid-19, the GrainsConnect Canada teams continue to operate their grain terminals while practicing increased physical distancing and maintaining high quality standards. Essential commodities are being delivered into the supply-chain and onto the tables of families who need them most.
“GrainsConnect systems allow grain to be delivered efficiently and safely, with drivers only leaving their trucks briefly to unload while the rest of the delivery can be done from inside their truck,” says Warren Stow, President of GrainsConnect Canada.
“Trucks are probed and identified at a kiosk away from the facility, they are directed and communicated with via scoreboard, and once the truck has been emptied, documentation is received by farmers from a printer kiosk and trucks safely exit the driveway,” says Stow. Meanwhile, GrainsConnect staff are able to receive shipments from inside the control room while practicing safe and hygienic social protocols.
GrainsConnect Canada currently operates four state-ofthe-art terminals across the prairies including Maymont and Reford, Saskatchewan and Huxley and Vegreville, Alberta. The GrainsConnect supply-chain was designed and constructed using advanced technology and produces an efficient delivery loop.
Stow says the delivery of grain from growers into the grain supply-chain is of critical importance to ensure GrainsConnect can play its role and help Canadian farms remain operational during this crisis. “Western Canadian farmers remain active. They continue to deliver grain to our facilities and are marketing next season’s wheat crop. We will work diligently to support their operations now and into the months ahead.”
GrainsConnect Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta and is a joint-venture of GrainCorp and Zen-Noh Group. GrainCorp, with corporate headquarters in Sydney, Australia, has been successfully providing customers with access to Canadian, American and global marketplaces for over 100 years. Zen-Noh Group, a major Japanese agricultural cooperative, was established in 1972 and has grown into one of the largest cooperatives in the world.
